Secure Tribal IDs
Federal government initiatives including the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and REAL ID have placed existing Tribal IDs under greater scrutiny than ever before. At the same time, the acceptance of Tribal IDs for travel, commerce and services continues to diminish. SONIC intends to change this.
A fundamental right of any nation is to identify its members and provide meaningful identification credentials to its citizens that are widely accepted as a primary form of identification. The mission of SONIC is to enable Indian Nations to preserve this important sovereign right.
SONIC works to enable all Tribes – regardless of size and resources – to issue highly secure identification cards to enrolled members in a way that preserves sovereignty and protects the privacy of all American Indians and Alaskan Natives.
